Nine Days to Go!
Dear Daring Students,
We are now in the Winter Quarter, and with that has come winter weather for many of our campuses across California. I, Bumbledeer, was personally grateful for my many hats, especially my signature bowler hat, which have helped keep me warm since the holiday season began. There are now just nine days until the submission deadline, but if you haven’t submitted yet don’t worry, nine may be the perfect amount of time.
Nine is one of my favorite numbers because it is perfect in an imperfect way. It is not a full ten, and would not be considered “one hundred percent”, yet it is still like an A. It is not even, but it is a square number made of two other uneven numbers. It’s straight line has an end, but the loop at the top reminds us that some things can repeat themselves, or even go on for infinity.
I’d like to remind everyone that Audeamus is similar to the number nine. Audeamus also has a lot of irregularities; it’s very eccentric, but at the same time it’s cohesive, interesting, and perhaps perfect in its own way. I hope you choose to submit your pieces whether or not you feel they are perfect. Most people are their own hardest judge, so they never see how well they fit right in to the mix of things. Again, we are looking for what is unique and special, not what is the norm.
So please turn in whatever you think is daring, whether it be a paper from a class, a individual project, research, academic, creative, artisitic, anything! Just get it done by the deadline!
Yours Truly,
Mr. Bumbledeer
